1758 Military Dock

On October 1, 2000, Bateaux Below divers found the structural remains of a 1758-built British military wharf lying in 3 to 8 feet of water at the south end of the lake. The solid-crib style waterfront structure, built of logs and rocks, was constructed to dock larger vessels that were being built during the French and Indian War. Though originally pier-shaped like a long and narrow rectangle, the archaeological investigation showed an addition was later put on making it T-shaped to receive deeper draft warships.
